Season 1 of the Netflix original horror limited series The Fall of the House of Usher was picked up for a series order on October 6, 2021.[1] It will premiere on October 12, 2023.[2]
Synopsis[]
From Mike Flanagan, the creator of The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, a wicked horror series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.

- On October 6, 2021, The Fall of the House of Usher received a series order.[1]
- On December 9, 2021, Frank Langella, Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, and Mark Hamill were cast.[4]
- On December 10, 2021, Michael Trucco, T'Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyliegh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet were cast.[5]
- Production began in January and concluded in June 2022.[6]
- On April 13, 2022, Frank Langella was fired from the series after a misconduct investigation proved unacceptable conduct on set.[7]
- On April 29, 2022, Bruce Greenwood replaced Frank Langella in the lead role of Roderick Usher. Langella was fired in April, halfway through production, forcing his scenes to be reshot.[8]
